What is Echocardiography?

Echocardiography simply stands for a heart ultrasound. This is a test where the heart structure and function is visualized using sound waves. A Transthoracic Echocardiogram is a simple and painless test that can offer our physicians a great view of how your heart is doing. While it doesn't give us all the answers it can help us assess the heart's pumping function and valves in ways that other tests cannot. Sometimes this test can be combined with exercise stress testing to give us an idea of how your heart functions under stress.
